When it comes to experiences that blend adventure, flavor, and the richness of Arizona, Rancho Vista Hermosa is your go-to destination. However, there's a new addition to the list of must-visit places just a stone's throw away – Los Milics Vineyard. This charming vineyard is redefining what's possible in the world of wine right in the heart of Elgin, Arizona.
Opened in January, Los Milics Vineyard is already making waves with its unique wine-and-dine experience. The recognition it's gaining from customers and critics alike is well-deserved. In fact, it has been voted as the No. 3 "Best New Wine Experience in the U.S." for 2023 by USA Today.
For co-owner Josh Garfinkle, Los Milics is more than a vineyard; it's a testament to the extraordinary potential that Arizona holds. In a region where the idea of wine production was once met with skepticism, Los Milics Vineyard is breaking new ground and setting high standards.
The 20-acre vineyard is a paradise for wine enthusiasts. It not only grows its own grapes but also produces and bottles unique wines on-site. The tasting room is a blend of elegance and comfort, making it the perfect place to savor the fruits of the vineyard's labor. Chef Ana Borrajo has curated a full, small-plates menu that pairs exquisitely with the wines.
Josh Garfinkle's passion for wine has deep roots, stemming from the gourmet flavors he discovered through a friend's father. This passion led to the birth of Los Milics, where wine lovers can experience the magic of winemaking up close.
What truly sets Los Milics apart is the commitment to quality. Assistant Winemaker Oswaldo Medina knows that the production facility is where the real magic happens. The grapes selected for their wines are chosen for their suitability to the Elgin climate. Many of these grape varieties have roots in Eastern and Western Europe and Croatia.
Medina highlights the unique character of Arizona's climate, saying, "Arizona heat has a very special taste than other places. It’s just very, very special." The boutique nature of wineries in the area allows for a full expression of flavors and exceptional wines.
Josh Garfinkle points out that while some of the grape varieties may not be familiar to most people, Los Milics is on a mission to educate palates. It's an invitation to explore and appreciate the distinctive qualities of the wines crafted in the region.
At Rancho Vista Hermosa, we're excited to announce that we'll soon offer horseback rides to Los Milics Vineyard. It's the perfect fusion of two remarkable experiences – the equestrian charm of our ranch and the wine wonders of Los Milics. So, stay tuned for more details on this incredible horseback adventure!
